LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Livingston Manor author Wayne Hoffman will read from his new book at the CAS Arts Center, 48 Main Street on Saturday, October 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. “Sweet Like Sugar” follows an unexpected friendship between a young gay Jewish man and an elderly Orthodox rabbi. Wayne will also read a brief excerpt from a novel-in-progress that is set in a small town in the Catskills. There will be a reception following the reading and copies of “Sweet Like Sugar” and Wayne’s earlier novel, “Hard,” will be on sale. Twenty percent of the proceeds with benefit CAS.

A longtime journalist, Wayne Hoffman has written for The Washington Post, The Village Voice, The Forward, and elsewhere, and his essays and short stories appear in such anthologies as “Best Gay Stories 2010,” “Mama’s Boy” and “I Like It Like That.” He divides his time between Sullivan County and New York City, where he currently works as deputy director for Nextbook Press.
