Historic schoolhouse open to public

MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Historical Society (PCHS) recently partnered with Steve Metzger, proprietor of Apple Valley, to make the old Schocoppee Schoolhouse, located in Apple Valley Village, available for viewing.

The little red schoolhouse originally stood at the intersection of Fire Tower Road and Schocoppee Road, about a mile west of the present day location. It was donated to the Pike County Historical Society in 1976, taken apart plank by plank, and reconstructed at the new site.

The schoolhouse is open Friday through Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. throughout the summer and into the fall. Visit www.pike countyhistoricalsociety.org.
