Flute and harp duo at Fauchere

MILFORD, PA — The Hotel Fauchere will host a concert by the Levin/Stern Flute and Harp Duo on August 12 at 7:30 p.m. The program, “From Famous Classics to Modern Favorites,” ranges from early music by Telemann to Debussy’s “Clair du Lune” and Ravel’s “Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte” to 20th-century show songs by the Gershwins and Harold Arlen.

The New York Times has described the Levin/Stern Duo as “most persuasive... a lovely sense of shape... a sense of dark mystery... a sardonic touch.” It features flute player Sharon Levin and harpist Karen Stern. Levin is also half of Duo del Norte, which performed at the Pocono Environmental Education Center two years ago. She has been a featured soloist with numerous orchestras and has performed throughout Europe and Latin America as well as in New York City. At Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, she filled every seat. Stern has performed with major orchestras including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra and the New York City Ballet. She has recorded on the Delos and Hungariton labels.

Three years after joining forces in 1984, Levin and Stern won the Young Artists Chamber Music Award.

The event is a production of Kindred Spirits.
