NARROWSBURG, NY — The Friends of Maris Hearn will present the fifth annual Maris Hearn Life Celebration Concert at the Tusten Theatre on Sunday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1:30pm.
The concert will feature Marc Black and Alana Amram & The Rough Gems in a benefit for Damascus Citizens for Sustainability, Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy and Catskill Mountainkeeper.
Judith DeMaris (Maris) Hearn, folk DJ, peace activist, lesbian, feminist, athlete and avid bicyclist, died on March 8, 2007, International Women’s Day, after an almost 20-year battle with cancer. Hearn had a long-running show, The Gumbo Shop, on WJFF, hydro-powered community radio in the Catskills.
