CUDDEBACKVILE, NY — The members and friends of The Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation will host a talk by Kathie Manthorne about the history of New York as a film location on Wednesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the D & H Canal Park Visitor’s Center, 58 Hoag Road, just off Route 209.

New York scenery has been the “star” of moving pictures since the 1890s. The talk examines a series of locales, including Fort Lee and the Palisades, the Cuddebackville area and Niagara Falls, by illustrating their appearance in movie clips and still images.

Manthorne is completing research for a book titled “You Ought to be in Pictures: American Art & Film, 1895-1950.” She holds a doctorate from Columbia University.
