LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — For the sixth year, SUNY Sullivan will host two performances of “The Vagina Monologues” to raise funds for RISE (Rape Intervention Services and Education) of Sullivan County, a program housed at Catskill Regional Medical Center. The performances, scheduled for Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9 at 8 p.m. in the Seelig Theater, mark the 20th anniversary of this global movement to generate awareness and help end violence against women and girls.
Professor Cindy Linden is organizing the production, which will include performances by SUNY Sullivan students, faculty, staff and community members. A $10 admission donation is suggested. Admission is free for students who present a valid ID. For more information, contact professor Linden at clinden@sunysullivan.edu.
Founded in 1987, RISE of Sullivan County provides an array of services to victims of sexual abuse and offers prevention education. The program advocates for sexual abuse victims. Staff members will accompany the victim to the hospital, police or district attorney after an incident and will provide assistance. RISE also offers confidential individual, family or couples counseling as well as support groups, prevention education, professional training sessions, and operates a 24-hour crisis hotline.
