HONESDALE, PA — New art exhibits will open at all three of the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s Art-a-Pelago Galleries on Main Street on Saturday, December 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with Honesdale’s Second Saturday recurring monthly happenings.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments and meet the artists at Paros Gallery at DJ Harvey Agency, 815 Main St., featuring the paintings of Lauryn de Leeuw; Lesvos Gallery at Loose Leaf Pages,  627 Main St., featuring artwork by Lisa Sakoutis; and Thasos Gallery at Black & Brass, 520 Main St., featuring paintings by Elizabeth Castellano.

De Leeuw, from the Netherlands and now living in the Delaware Valley, is a contemporary abstract impressionist artist. Her works are influenced by the likes of de Kooning, Matisse, van Gogh, Chagall and Japanese Edo art.

Sakoutis is an artist from Hemlock Farms in Lords Valley who enjoys the element of mystery or surprise in any work of art. She works in several mediums, including ceramics, mosaics, stained glass, concrete, wood, sculpture and lamps.

Castellano is an artist who, at age 13, had an operation that improved her sight 10-fold (though leaving her still legally blind). She writes, “I was overwhelmed by bold lines and colors that I had never seen before, and I emphasize that in my own artwork.”
