NPS photo contest winners announced

BEACH LAKE, PA — The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River has announced the winners of its second photography contest focused on the outstanding resources of the park and the connection between those resources and the public. Over 50 photographs were submitted between March 1 and August 25, 2016. 


Judging occurred in November by a panel that included park Superintendent Kristina Heister, local photographer David B. Soete and Laurie Ramie, executive director Upper Delaware Council. In November 2016, the public was provided the opportunity to vote for the “Peoples’ Choice” winner on Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River’s Facebook page. 


Winners in the cultural category are: Alex Westner (Greeley, PA), first place; Jeffrey Sidle (Hawley, PA), second place; and Winifred Boyd (Westbury, NY). third place. Winners in the geological category are Winifred Boyd (Westbury, NY), first place; Westner, second place; and Pat Ashely (Laurel, NJ), third place. Winners in the scenic category are Westner, first place; Ashley, second place; and Karen Colalaco (Matamoras, PA), third place.
People’s Choice Winners are Andrew Baker (Hancock, NY) for scenic, Dena Fiscus (Hobarat, NY) for cultural and  Winifred Boyd (Westbury, NY) for geological
The public can view the winning photographs on the park’s Facebook and Instagram sites and in local publications such as the Upper Delaware Council Newsletter.
