Motorsport rally comes to Tusten

NARROWSBURG, NY — On October 27, 28, and 29, auto rally specialists from around the world will gather in the Catskill Mountains of New York State for the fifth Empire State Performance Rally (ESPR).

A rally is a test of drivers, co-drivers (i.e. navigators) and street-legal cars, run on the road against the clock. In the case of the ESPR 2017, the route will consist of 203 miles of minor roads in the Catskills near Narrowsburg. This will include 116 miles of “special stages” (speed test sections closed to non-rallyists) on the challenging dirt and gravel roads of the Ten Mile River Scout Camp, which will be run on Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. For those who want to see the competitors and cars up close, ESPR will begin with a display and ceremonial start on the streets of Narrowsburg from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 27.

ESPR is part of the National Auto Sports Association (NASA Rallysport) national championship, so many of the entrants will be regulars in that series. But the event is also a favorite with many competitors from the Americas, Europe, and Asia, so a strong international contingent is expected.
